Germany: Classic cars burn rubber in Berlin

Classic cars hit the streets of Berlin Friday to compete against each other in the third ADAC Avus Rally.

With a racetrack of 400 kilometres, 54 participants drove out of the German capital to the landscape of Brandenburg to entertain themselves and the visitors on the sidelines. Part of the track is the historical Avus racetrack located in the centre of Berlin.

The rally was re-launched in 2010 after a 39-year hiatus. The range of cars varies from old-timers to somewhat newer models including race, rally, sports, luxury and everyday vehicles. The oldest car is a 1952 Volvo, while the youngest is from 1983. Aside from a single Norwegian team, all the participants are from Germany.
