Germany: Coffee-cat cafe captures customers
Berlin's first cat cafe, 'Pee Pee Katzencafè', opened in Neukölln Thursday, where guests can sip their coffee and pet the cats that roam freely around the shop. The two cats were picked up from an animal shelter as part of a social project to help Berlin's stray animals.
The first cat cafe opened in Taiwan in 1998, and eventually began to attract Japanese tourists. Japan opened it's first cat cafe in Osaka in 2004, with Tokyo now being home to at least 39 cat cafes.
