Latvia: Ships dock in Riga for Tall Ship Races finale
More than 100 ships and yachts from 17 different countries arrived in the Latvian capital Riga to participate in the final phase of the Tall Ship Races. The ships included the "Krusenstern", a Russian tall ship which, with a length of almost 115 metres, is one of the largest sailing vessels in the world.
The Tall Ship Races has been organised annually since 1956. To take part in the race a sailing ship must have a length of at least 9.4 metres (30 feet). At least half of the crew members of the ship must have an age of between 15 and 25 years old.
This year's edition has two parts. In the final part boats sail from the Latvian capital to Szczecin in Poland.
