Technicians inspected the scene of the train derailment near Santiago de Compostela on Friday. Spanish media reports that one of the train's dirvers said he was going 180km/h (110 mph) in a zone that was limited to 80km/h (50 mph). He is currently being guarded by the Judicial police.
The University Hospital Complex in the pilgrimage city has been inundated with victims of the accident since Wednesday night and the locals have been asked to go and donate blood. The train accident left at least 80 dead, and over 140 injured, with 94 victims still hospitalised.
