Russia: Russian robot comes to life, enjoys a chat
The full-sized anthropomorphic AR-600 robot was presented at INNOPROM, an important trade exhibition in Yekaterinburg, Russia, on Thursday. The robot is capable of completing logical tasks with the help of his operator, and some even without one. The robot is able to engage in simple dialogue, to move, and detect his location.
The AR-600 is 140cm tall, weighs 50kg and is packed with about 100 tactile sensors which detect objects at a distance of 15cm. It can hold simple conversations on specific topics and can also be used as a voice guide. Most of the robot’s artificial intelligence, such as its stereoscopic image processing and speech systems are run by a remote computer via Wi-Fi that also gives the robot the ability to do simple arithmetic.
This robot was designed by Android Robotics Corporation, a Russian robotics company.
