Russia: Beefed up, tanked up - lets combat
Special military units from the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) were armed to the teeth on Thursday in Rostov Oblast, as part of joint drills to beat terrorism with police officers from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Russia taking part in the Kobalt 2013 exercise.
More than 500 officers began the exercises July 4, with the joint operation lasting until July 12, in a bid to learn how to block terrorist groups, block illegal weapon-smuggling channels, as well as discovering drug or explosive materials.
The CSTO is a military alliance founded in 1992, aimed at improving coordination between the special operations forces.
