Turkey: An Ankara baker's story of unprovoked police violence
Haci Bicer, a Turkish baker working in Ankara says he was beaten up by the police on Tuesday when he went out to buy cigarettes. He works and sleeps in the bakery in the centre of the town close to Kizilay, and says he did not take part in demonstrations.
According to Bicer the police just beat him to the ground without questioning him, "I went to buy cigarettes, I work in a bakery, but the police didn't ask me anything. They just beat me, first in the leg."
Tuesday evening Ankara was divided, some people were chanting happily on one side of Ataturk Boulevard, while on the other side the ones trying to build barricades, clashed with police.
