Russia: Luxury supercar racers feel the G-force

Supercar owners from across Russia and Europe fastened their seatbelts Sunday for the 2013 Moscow Unlim500+ car race held in the Dmitrovsky Pologon. In a flash of steel rims and sculpted bodies Lamborghinis, Aston Martins, Porsches, Ferraris, BMWs, Audis, Nissans, Bentleys, Bugattis, Jaguars, Maseratis and Mercedes-Benz dragsters roared around the race track for one mile drag races.

The Unlim500+ opened it's doors to the public for the first time in ten years, limiting attendance to dragster owners only in the past. In line with international car racing standards the racers had to undergo medical testing and training on the first day, waiting until the second day to rev up their high powered engines for the ultimate gentleman's Gran Turismo.

The most powerful car in the race boasted a 2020 horse power engine, while record speeds hit 300 km/hour, with dragsters tearing through the finish line in a record 22 seconds.
