Unconcerned with early morning rain, well-clad individuals in a variety of styles sat down for a fashionable picnic in Leipzig's Clara Zetkin Park on Saturday. They were joined in the city by thousands of as Goths and the Goth-friendly from all over the world descended upon the German city for the Wave Gotik Treffen, the world's largest Gothic lifestyle and dark arts event. People in Victorian dresses, Tudor costumes and strange dystopian soldiers from the far future posed for pictures with locals as well as to enjoy each other's company over food and drinks.
Picnics in the park have been a WGT tradition since 2011. Early morning rainfall threatened to derail plans, but the precipitation began to subside by the afternoon, allowing for the park to be in full swing with all types of characters by 15:00 local time (13:00 GMT).
The Wave Gotik Treffen has been held annually in Leipzig since 1992 and attracts between 18,000 and 25,000 people. Over 200 bands are performing over four days. This year's edition ends May 19.
