Poland: Thousands of guitars make beautiful music together
Thousands of ensemble guitarists attempted to break the world record for most people in a guitar ensemble at the 11th anniversary edition of the Thanks Jimi Festival in Wroclaw, Poland on Wednesday.
The previous Guitar Guinness Record was set on May 1, 2012 when 7,273 participants played guitar together. This year's event saw the rock band Deep Purple, Bruce Kulick of Kiss fame and Chuck Garric from Alice Cooper take part in the musical ensemble.
At one point all participants played Jimi Hendrix's song "Hey Joe" together. The festival took place in the Wroclaw town square and invited participants who played any kind of string instrument to play music as well. The event included a contest for the most exotic instrument.
The first edition of the festival was in 2001 and saw 588 musicians participate. This year the record was not broken, as only 5,734 people participated.
