A military parade was held in Tehran to commemorate the Day of the Iranian Armed Forces, Thursday. Taking place near the Imam Khomeini's Mausoleum, the event was attended by Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, as well as high state officials and top military commanders. An array of military equipment, including Iran's own drone and missile systems, were demonstrated alongside troops and heavy munitions.
The Iranian display of arsenal was extensive. The Hazem-3 drone was unveiled, which is the second drone to be developed by Iran. Also displayed were the Ya Zahra 3 and Mersad 2, Iran's missile systems. The military also exhibited a mobile electronic interception system, Sayyad 40. Alongside these developments, Iran presented its surface-to-air missiles and advanced radar systems.
Iran demonstrated significant progress in its defence sector. While developing and producing its own military equipment, the country officials have repeatedly assured international community that deterrence is the main purpose.
