Russia: Chinese President makes first state visit to Russia

Newly appointed Chinese President Xi Jinping landed in Moscow on Friday. This will be the Chinese President's first state visist since being elected earlier in March this year. Russian President Vladimir Putin greeted Jinping at the Kremlin for the first of several meetings, said to be symbolic of the close relationship between the neighbouring geopolitical giants.

Former Chinese ambassador to Russia Liu Guchang said as part of his visit both Putin and Jinping would sign alliance documents related to enegy cooperation, aircraft manufacturing and other industrial sectors.
