Russia: Easyjet brings Moscow and London together with low cost flights

The first EasyJet flight from London Gatwick arrived at Moscow's Domodedovo airport on Tuesday. Russian and UK representatives cut a red ribbon in front of the passengers to mark the opening of a low cost flight link between the two nations.

With many Russians living in Great Britain, EasyJet is expecting to transport more than a quarter of a million passengers between the capitals every year. The new air route is anticipated to stimulate trade relations and boost tourism between the two countries.

The new flight connection between London and Moscow was also marked by a deal between Russian Standard Vodka and the airline, which made the spirit available on board all EasyJet aircraft. Until now, wine was the strongest beverage available to buy on board.

British Airways, Russian Aeroflot and Transaero also run flights between the two countries, which have not been serviced by a budget airline until now.
