The newest exhibition at the USSR Museum in Moscow might surprise anyone who thought revolutionary leader Lenin was safely consigned to history. A model representing the famous Bolshevik sleeping has been installed, with a moving chest imitating breathing.
Constructed by famous film studio Mosfilm, which produced film such as Battleship Potemkin and Solaris, the model uses an electrical pump to push air into the chest cavity to create the illusion of steady breaths. The exhibition gallery is set up to resemble the Red Square mausoleum where Lenin's embalmed body rests.
Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov, popularly known as Lenin, was a communist thinker and leader of the Bolshevik party who emerged as leader of the nation after the October Revolution. Remembered as the originator of the Marxism-Leninism school of political theory, Ulyanov died in 1924 after a series of strokes.
