Demo in support Moria refugees evacuation hits Berlin

Germany, Berlin

People take to the streets in Berlin on Sunday, September 20, to demand the immediate evacuation of the Moria camp refugees.

The demo will take place under the slogan “Enough! We have space," with organisers calling on the German government to accept all refugees who had been living in the overcrowded Moria camp.

Thousands of refugees were left homeless after the fire destroyed the camp. A new camp with enough space to host 3,000 people has been built in Moria over the weekend with the help of Greek military.

On Tuesday, the German government confirmed it is in talks to host 1,553 refugees from five Greek islands, all of them families with children, on top of about 150 unaccompanied minors from the island of Lesbos. Protesters consider this number to be too small.
