The World Health Organisation (WHO) holds a briefing in Geneva on Thursday, August 13, to provide an update on the latest developments regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the world's first COVID-19 vaccine had been approved for use in Russia, on Tuesday, August 11.

According to data compiled by the Johns Hopkins University, as of Tuesday morning there have been over 20 million confirmed cases of coronavirus infections in the world and 737,224 deaths related to the virus.​
