USA: Hundreds hit the streets for DC's Fresh Start 5K race on New Year's Day
Hundreds of people flocked to Freedom Plaza to take part in the 9th annual Fresh Start 5k race, organised and hosted by Mayor Muriel Elizabeth Bowser on Sunday in Washington DC.
"I wanna make a bet with some of you. Who do you think has done every fresh start 5K? Me! And I wanna do it again," Mayor Bowser told her audience.
Footage features participants preparing for the race, listening to speakers and running alongside each other towards Pennsylvania Avenue. Some could be seen taking part with their dogs and babies in strollers.
The event was held virtually for the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
