International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach met with the Team USA figure skaters after their awards ceremony was put on hold amid the investigation into Russian skater Kamila Valieva's alleged doping, IOC Spokesperson Mark Adams confirmed in a press briefing in Beijing on Thursday.

Bach had reportedly offered the athletes Olympic torches as gifts while they wait for their medals.

The 15-year-old figure skater Valieva tested positive last week to a banned doping substance but was allowed to continue competing in the Olympic Games, sparking backlash and criticism of IOC's handling of the case.
