Russian artist goes viral on TikTok for ancient icons restoration
Kristina Karnauhova, a Russian artist attracted millions of views on Tiktok, showing the process of ancient icons restoration, as seen during an interview in St. Petersburg on Thursday.
"Of course, the complete image reveals at the final toning stage when all the pieces come together. You feel as if you have created such an incredibly beautiful thing, which was almost like a Black Square by Malevich in the past, and now it has turned into something more. This feeling warms the soul," said Karnauhova.
After some acquaintances told Christina about Tiktok, she also decided to share her passion with people and created her own account.
"I realised why not, why not try it myself? Especially since both photography and video editing have always been close to me. My love for restoration, photography, and video came together here," added Karnauhov.
Since then, Kristina started filming her working process, capturing every detail. Sometimes, she even finds some interesting things, like letters from the past saved in the icon back panel.
