Russia: Moscow Zoo pandas choose favourites to win in 2022 Winter Olympics
Giant pandas Dindin and Zhui from the Moscow Zoo have chosen their favourite countries participating in the Beijing Olympics on Thursday.
The animals were shown cones with country flags. At first Dindin chose the Russian tricolour, but then changed his mind and headed to the Chinese flag.
Zhui initially decided on Germany but later switched to the cone with the US flag.
The pandas also showed interest in the countries of Sweden, the Netherlands, Austria, Norway, Canada, and Switzerland.
The 2022 Winter Olympics will start on February 4, 2022 in Beijing. A team of 212 Russian athletes will partake in the games.
Competitions will be held simultaneously in three host zones - Beijing (figure skating, hockey, speed skating, curling), Zhangjiakou (cross-country skiing, biathlon, snowboarding, ski jumping), and Yanqing (alpine skiing, bobsleigh, skeleton and luge sport).
