Poland: 'Tragedy' - Warsaw protesters hold demo against abortion ruling
Thousands of protesters gathered in Warsaw on Friday, to demonstrate against the country's constitutional court's new abortion ruling, which is banning abortions in all cases except for rape, incest, or when keeping a foetus endangers a woman's life.
Malgosia, one of the protesters, said, "What is happening in this country is simply a tragedy. And we will soon have a second Belarus or North Korea here. Thanks to Mr. Kaczynski [Law and Justice party leader, Jaroslaw Kaczynski]."
The court's Thursday ruling banned abortions of the malformed foetus which reportedly was the reason for the vast majority of last year's abortions.
