An Arianespace Soyuz rocket, designated flight VS19, was launched was launched from Korou, French Guiana at 0047 GMT on Tuesday.
The rocket was launched in a MetOp-C satellite for the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT).
MetOp-C is the third and final satellite in the EUMETSAT Polar System (EPS) and will be the 20th meteorological satellite, as well as the 66th Earth observation satellite, in orbit.
