USA: Ronaldo rape accuser 'considered suicide' after alleged 2009 attack
Attorneys for Kathryn Mayorga, a US woman who claims footballer Cristiano Ronaldo raped her in Las Vegas in 2009, said she suffered from a range of mental illnesses following the alleged attack as they spoke to the press in Las Vegas on Wednesday.
"She explained that since the 2009 sexual assault, she had experienced depression, intrusive thoughts, considered suicide, abused alcohol and had difficulty maintaining personal relationships and employment," said one of the lawyers, Larissa Drohobyczer.
Drohobyczer went on to say that a board-certified psychiatrist diagnosed Mayorga as suffering post-traumatic stress disorder and major depression, which were, in his opinion “caused by Cristiano Ronaldo's 2009 sexual assault.”
Mayorga's other attorney, Leslie Mark Stovall, said Mayorga left the Las Vegas area to avoid unwanted attention.
