CCTV footage released on Friday shows four armed militants entering a Russian National Guard base in the village of Naurskaya, Thursday night.
The group of armed militants broke into the base at 02:30 local time (23:30 Thursday GMT), but were discovered by a group of National Guard service personnel. As a result of the attack, six National Guard soldiers were killed and three injured. Six militants were also killed in the assault.
The self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL) has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement posted online.
