
Russia: Tu-154 crash victims to be identified in Moscow - Russian Transport Min
Russian Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov stated that the identification of the bodies of the Tu-154 crash victims will take place in Moscow, during a press conference in Sochi, on Sunday.
Sokolov stated that the bodies which have already been recovered will be sent to Moscow to be identified. He added that the search operation is continuing however no survivors have been found as of yet.
The Tu-154 aircraft was bound for Hmeimim airbase, in Syria's Latakia province, carrying the official army choir of the Russian armed forces, the Alexandrov Ensemble, also known as the Red Army Choir. The musicians on board were due to take part in a New Year's performance. The plane crashed just 20 minutes after take-off, from Sochi, early on Sunday.
The Tu-154 plane was carrying 92 people, including 84 passengers and eight crew members. According to the MoD, no survivors have been found at the crash site, while ten bodies have been recovered so far.
