USA: Sanders booed by supporters after urging them to vote for Clinton
Jane Sanders, Bernie Sanders' wife (English): "They don't know your name is being put in nomination, that's the concern."
Bernie Sanders held a rally to ask his supporters to vote for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in order to defeat Republican candidate Donald Trump, in Philadelphia on Monday, ahead of the Democratic National Convention.
Sanders was booed by his supporters after his request and responded by saying that "Donald Trump is a danger for the future of our country and must be defeated." The Vermont senator added "I intend to do everything I can to see that he is defeated". He expressed his hope "that our revolution will be supporting at least 100 candidates all across this country." Sanders added that "Trump is a bully and a demagogue" and that he "has made bigotry and hatred the cornerstone of his campaign."
Sanders also noted that Debbie Wasserman Schultz had resigned as chair of the DNC after the leaking of her emails showing how she tried to sabotage the Vermont senator. He assured the crowd that such an exposure would "open the doors of the party to those people who want real change."
At the end of the Senator's speech his wife, Jane Sanders, came on stage and told her husband: "They don't know your name is being put in nomination, that's the concern."The comments suggest that the Democratic delegates will be given a change to endorse Sanders despite him backing Clinton.
"Her resignation opens up the possibility of new leadership at the top of the Democratic Party that will stand with working people," Sanders added.
