USA: Sanders nods to Clinton' s yes vote on Iraq invasion ahead of Illinois primary
US democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders nodded to Hillary Clinton’s decision to vote in favour of the Iraq War during a large campaign rally in Summit, Illinois on Friday night.
"In 2002 [...] Congress debated the most important foreign policy issue in the modern history of our country. I listened very closely to president Bush and vice president Chaney and all these guys had to say. And I concluded that they were not telling the truth and I voted against it," stated Sanders.
Sanders was greeted by a large numbered of supporters, with attendees lining up at Argo Community High School District in a massive queue that stretched over the length of ten football fields.
Sanders spoke about his views on a wide range of issues including foreign policy, immigration, campaign finance, reforming Wall Street, income inequality, universal health care, expanding social security, making college tuition-free, climate change and the need for a political revolution.
The rally comes a week ahead of Illinois’ primary on March 15.
