Norway: Parents protest Oslo's child "kidnapping" policies

Several hundred demonstrators, supporters and parents who have lost their children to Norway's foster care system gathered at the Central Station in Oslo before marching to the city's parliament Saturday, as they joined worldwide protests against violations of children and family rights in Norway. The group held banners with messages including 'children are not business' and 'bring back our children.'

The foster care system 'Barnevernet' in Norway has attracted widespread criticism, including comments from Czech president Milos Zeman in February who compared the system to that of the infamous 'Arian breeding programme' of Nazi Germany. Protests also took place in Russia, France, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Netherlands and Denmark among others countries.
