Mexico: See protesters finish 200 km march for Ayotzinapa’s 43 missing students
Hundreds of protesters joined a thousand-strong demonstration in Mexico City, Sunday, with many walking nearly 200 kilometres (125 miles) to demand justice for the 43 missing students of Ayotzinapa.
The week long march culminated on Sunday, with protesters walking from Tlalpan, a southwestern district of Mexico City, to the central Zocalo Square outside the National Palace. Protesters, many on motorcycles, carried banners baring the faces of the 43 abducted students, chanting slogans including 'Pena out!', referring to President Enrique Pena Nieto.
The demonstration was organised against the government's response to the September 26 disappearance and alleged murder of 43 Ayotzinapa students. So far a total of 74 people have been arrested in connection to the disappearance of the students, including Iguala Mayor Jose Luis Abarca, his wife Maria de los Angeles Pineda, and several members of the local police force. Their disappearance has triggered large and sometimes violent protests throughout the country.
